vBulletin + vBSEO = resource hog

Yea, just figured I'd say that. I had go to a "newer" version of eAccelerator for it to be compatable with IonCube (why the hell does vBSEO encrypt their script when vBulletin doesn't even bother? heh). Server load more than doubled (mostly due to IonCube / eAccelerator change) from .4 to 1.0 - 1.2

Sucks to be me. Now I've gotta get another server and spread the higher load sites out. And to think.... I thought it'd run a better load over phpBB.

Why would you need an SEO enhancement for vB? And getting an extra server for this is slightly outrageous. ;)

I run the good old vB 3.0.x with no SEO plugins and my showthread.php's and showpost.php's are being indexed by Google in 24-48 hours maximum. And they rank on top for the title keywords as well (unless they're very competitive, of course). Even user profiles rank on some terms.

Just work on your inbound links and the SEO issue will get solved by itself, with no extra plugins.

    Regards,
    David

There's plenty of tweaks you can make through the vbulletin control panel that will dramatically lighten the load. Turn off member lists display, or leave it on but turn of the alphabetical listings. Lower the number of posts displayed per thread. etc etc etc. A few of those tweaks and you should easily be able to bring the traffic load down to a manageable level again.

I have pointed out many times, the plethora of mod-rewrite rules in vBSEO can, and it seems it does in this case, adversely affect the performance of a large/busy forum website.
