Sorry for marching in like this but pushing clients to use it sounds like forcing them.
I think that people who are easily confinced or too lazy to do some simple edits will probably buy.
Not to mention people who just bought their first VBulletin license and think it's a miracletool that gives them instant #1 ranking.

VBulletin gets indexed pretty well without it.
    It's also a bit too expensive but that's my 2 cents :)

Sorry for the confusion, I guess I should have cleared this up..

The clients I'm talking about are looking for ways to tweak and optimize their vBulletin for SEO. This is why I encourage them to use the best product available. :)

Also I show them a number of other ways to optimize the script, that don't include the vBSEO script.

that site gave up to early.
5 month isn't enough time ;) if you are into SEO at all, then you know this already..

I have a url that I had vBSEO on, and it had 4500 post, and google shows 52,000 links indexed..evey single post, archive, games, blogs, member profiles, every page on the site.. in less then 9 months

the product works, but won't work over night..

if you want to post one site that dislikes vBSEO, I'll post one site that has shown improvements ;)

    http://www.vbseo.com/content/testimonials/

we can exchange links all day... :)

    OK, I'll bite.

    How long is long enough?
How long is long enough to put up with a tangable total lose of of positioning in Yahoo! and MSN as a result of using vBSEO?

I think the same could be said about positioning a site with any type URL. So what is the benefit of vBSEO and when can it be realized?

Please don't use the keywords in the URL arguement. We have already proven that members make crap thread titles and thus there would be no benefit at all or worse a negetive affect. That can be backed up by looking here at the thread titles professionals that know better create.

SEO is an ongoing process - and will be necessary as long as search engines continue to use algorithmic crawling, indexing, & ranking processes to generate SERPs.

As those in the SEO game know, the ETA to seeing the results of an SEO activity vary greatly.

One thing is for certain - the best time to install an SEO solution is *yesterday*. With the patience that SEO requires, you certainly do not want to wait - your competitors certainly will not.

The forum industry is getting more and more competitive everyday as people recognize the huge earning potential that can be achieved with user generated content. If you want to be a viable participant in this space, then you definitely need to have an SEO action plan.

Do-it-yourself is an option that *exists*, but I certainly would not suggest this approach for those of you who are focused on building a successful forum, but are not really interested in the programming or development side. Of course, there may be many developers who use their forum more as a testing ground or workbench for their coding hobby. A less than 5 minute install of a professional product is certainly the way to go for all forum-ers (in my humble opinion). ;)

One thing we do notice from our customers other than typically glowing reviews is that, within a few months of their first installation, they begin vBSEO-enabling any other forums they operate AND/OR start brand new forums specifically to take advantage of the vBSEO solution. :) With that said, it shouldn't come as a great surprise to learn that many vBSEO customers own and operate over 20 vBSEO-enabled forums!

The time is now for forums. Please remember that SEO is an ultra-important component in the success of these "content generation monsters"! :) Start SEO today whether it's with a 5 minute install from vBSEO... or any other technique you have at your disposal.

So GameTrump how about my little experiment :D

The reality is like I said :

    1. In short term you will do better with buying some powerful link for 150 dollars (PR7/6 months) That will boost you in the beginning and get your forum indexed very fast and rank you better than if you buy vbseo and miss that powerful link.
    2. In that 6 months you just work on seo, building links, using heading tags, building content etc.....

Of course if you want you can buy both links and vbseo but the second one is absolutely not necessary !

I see people jump to vbseo right away and think they are winning the game. This is not true ... there are much more important things to do than just vbseo

You should make the jump to vBSEO. Understandably, it is difficult to get a good sense of how successful your forum can be with vBSEO, without having installed it.

Obviously, content and link building is necessary. But these things are NOT mutually exclusive! ;) You do both, of course. Install the vBSEO solution and continue content and link building, and await the great things to come:

    http://www.vbseo.com/f46/thank-you-vbseo-you-bought-me-new-car-7923/ :)

FYI vBSEO 3.0 has built in features referred to as linkbacks, designed to aid the link building process (along with the social bookmarking features).
