vBulletin & other forums serving Adsense

    vBulletin donated some licenses for us to use on our charitable sites (yay).

    Anyway my question is - NOTE: I don't know a line of .php

    I want to add adsense in the top right corner (same as Digital Point), or
    Had considered adding a skyscraper on the left.

    Does anyone know:

    1. Which file to change in vBulletin
    2. Where to add the adsense code
    3. If any other changes are required

    From what I have read in this forum, skyscrapers on the left have a higher click through - has anyone actually implemented 'skyscrapers on the left' in a forum though?

    Go into your style manager - edit templates - header

    Drop in your Adsense code and you should be up and running

    You can put it in the header, just make sure you check for the PHP file in use and don't show it on the registration or login pages.

    I know this thread is really old, but I could use some help getting the adsense placed after the first post in a thread and not on the registration pages. I will keep hunting on Google. Someone has to have the code somewhere, don't they?

    Edit this template:

    Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> « » -> Postbit Templates -> postbit or postbit_legacy (depending on which layout you are using)

    Add this code to the very bottom of the template:

    <if condition="$post[postcount] == 1">

    $spacer_open
    <div style="padding:0px 0px $stylevar[cellpadding]px 0px">

    <table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
    <tr>
    	<td class="thead" align="left">Advertisement</td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    	<td class="alt1" align="center">
    		[COLOR=Red]Your Adsense Code HERE[/COLOR]
    	</td>
    </tr>
    </table>

    </div>
    $spacer_close

    </if>
    Code (markup):

    Replace the Red part with your own adsense code.

    I was actually just perusing the web as well and heard that if you can integrate it into your archive, the click through is way higher. I have seen a few ideas, this one seems to be the best so far:

    [nourl]http://www.theadminzone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3776[/nourl]

    I have tried it out, seems decent. One of the mods is not working for 3.0.7... so if someone wants to take a crack at it...

    I posted the code to use adsense in the header on vbwebmaster. It's a template conditional.

    After reading this thread I had to dive into phpBB to solve the registration and login page adsense problem.

    Here is the result:

    Adsense and phpBB

    I know its doesn't help you vb users.. but anyway....

    I hope you do!

    Im really trying to build a forum specific to vBulletin admins to help them learn about things like SEO, Adsense, marketing, etc. The more advanced stuff.

    We have a few hundered members but need more and need everyone active. We;re running a contest right now where you can Win A Free Year of Hosting.

    Do you care to elaborate or are you just trying to be a dick?

    Because if you're trying to be a dick, say what you mean, mean what you say, and sign it. Don't make a pussy insinuation and walk away without elaborating.
