No, it's just not a fair way to make money. Customer satisfaction at vBulletin has gone down since. Kier Darby is gone. IPB hasn't had a price increase in the last 2-3 years (last one was when 2.2 came out). After what happened at vB, they could've, but didn't. IPB didn't rush the release, hence you didn't get a Patch Level 4 two sub-versions in. Their $195 license doesn't even INCLUDE upgrades and support.
ofcourse it does, you get upgrades for the whole series, like all 4.x.x upgrades. I've since sold my IPB license and found a used vb 3.8.x version to use, it's still solid and supported and I like the way vBSEO works with it. IPB is nice, I had a lot of fun with it and LOVE IP.CONTENT!! I really wish vB had something like it. But long story short, I didn't have time to relearn a new script, I know vB like the back of my hand. So my suggestion for someone who has no experience with either, I'd say give IPB a look. But if you do know vB and like it, I would stick with the 3.8 series because 4.0 is still not ready unless you fix the bugs yourself.
Can you show me where IB has said that? I have seen some of the VB forum users says that but never IB or it's staff......
actually i prefered using vbulletin. since 4.0 there are a lot of features there . . like cms and blog on publishing suite. and that is very amazing
You do realize you can get that with invision power products for cheaper? IP.Board, IP.Content, and IP.Blog
i like IP Board rather VB as they cheaper they have many feature bulit in rather VB.. and mostly I like their warn system
I just went to upgrade one of my vBulletin boards from 3.5.x to 3.8.x. vBulletin is forcing me to purchase vBulletin 4.x at $175 in order to get the 3.8.5 upgrade (and all it's security patches). This is criminal. FUCK VBULLETIN. IPB here I come!
