Vbulletin launching blog software

Just got an email update from VB, it mentions that they're currently testing their own blog software in closed-beta. Sounds like it'll be an add-on only, at least at first. No real details other than that. Should be interesting, always good to have more competition.

Can't find any official releases about it, anyone seen one?

When wordpress is free, why would anyone pay for a blog script.

If it is not possible for them to offer a better service than Wordpress it would be absolutely pointless to set a price for it. That is just me.

I agree that WP is pretty good but that doesn't mean you can't do anything better then WP, even if we thin WP has got everything blog software should have, VB team could come up with some revolutionary ideas ... who knows.

I agree. Even though PHPBB is free I much prefer vBulletin. It's hard to say if vBulletin will be able to compete with WordPress though. I'm a huge fan of WordPress and personally I can't see myself switching to vBulletin's product, but who knows! :) lol

I agree that WP is nice. But like scole said, lots of us pay for Vbulletin even though phpBB and SMF are free. If the blog software is a free or cheap add-on with a forum license, I might give it a try.

I've also heard the Wordpress 2.0+ code is kinda bloated and hogs resources or something.

Side note - I like simple machines forum over phpBB if I'm going open-source. It looks a LOT slicker out of the box, and the admin is pretty nice.

We will just have to wait and see what they have come up with. I'm interested to see what they have done. I have been looking for something to integrate blog + vb, so this might be the easy solution.

It's always good to have some ideas from VB. Well, we'll see.

Don't see the point WP is so easy to integrate with other software ... but we'll see, may be worthwhile...
