They have a captive market, also they are by far the best in their field, so I guess the rise in prices is reasonable. I doubt many will switch because of the price rise. They aren't targeting those who are looking for free boards like phpbb etc so the rise in price should be well absorbed by its clients.

The $60 renewal fee if expired after 60 days is what annoys me.

I figured the price would go up before this. Anytime a new company comes in, they are after profits and one way to increase profits is to increase the end cost. I've used this program for 6+ years, its still amazing :).

How is it too pricey? It is the best paid forum, it is the most secure forum... it is overall the best, anything that competes with vbulletin (ipb) is not as secure, I know that much.

Well of course you would say this...you do VB support and promotion. Why would anyone go to you for IPB scripts and support?

IMHO...IPB should LOWER their price $20-$30 and that would help the compete heavily with VB.Their prices were so close that most went VB...but if the difference is $50-$60...I think many would seriously consider an IPB license.

I guess you are right. I don't think it's enough to take over vBulletin however.

Don't like vBulletin? Try MyBB - it's like the free vBulletin forum application.

One thing I like SMF because it is quick. It definitely is the best choice for those on shared hosting because of bandwith issues.

    Isn't vbulletin very resource intensive?

It's perfectly fine for me as long as they're keeping the product on top of everything else.
