vBulletin Hosting

Hey, I have been looking for a good host to run a vBulletin forum on for a while now. Instead of me asking what hosting I should use, and to avoid many hosts throwing plans at me I will ask this.

What is your vBulletin forum hosted on, what company, what plan. Shared, reseller, dedicated. Also give URLs to your forum so we can see how active it is for what hosting etc.

    Thanks,
    BlueEew.

it all depends on the expected users/popularity/hits to the page.

any dedicated server should definitely be more than enough, but if you're just starting out, a shared host would most likely be fine.

i run mine on a dedi.

Thats why I am asking what server and what forum, so I can see how active a forum needs to be to be needed to be ran on a Dedicated server.

well, it also depends on any mods, and any other things on that server. theres a lot of things that can't define exactly what you need

I'm on a shared server with Threads: 2,579, Posts: 20,671, Members: 516, Active Members: 143 and an average of 40-60 users/guests online at any given moment.

The other forum (again on shared) I am a member of with Threads: 18,310, Posts: 252,598, Members: 9,462, Active Members: 702 and an average of around 100 members on.

neither forum has much of a problem (other then your average shared account woes).

I'm currently at ASmallOrange on their small package ($50 a year) but do plan on upgrading in a few months to their medium package ($100 annual) (before signing up, ask me for my referral link ;) )

The only real issue you'll face with a shared host for most any forum is "too many connections" which is often set by the host....but until you are getting that error, then shared is more then fine, and certainly stable enough to do what is needed.

Thanks for that, I have been looking at ASmallOrange for a while now, can you provide links to your forums? So I can check them out etc?

If you plan to be a small vBulletin forum, then go with valcatohosting.

The forum at the moment as around 41,000 posts. The activness is only bought in by the posting members. It as not been highly advertised, however when I get this on vBulletin I will be highly advertising and doing some advance work on the forum.

It will also have a website, and a blog. However I am planning on hosting all the differnt units on differnt servers/hosting accounts. To get everything running as smoothly as possible.

How old is your forum though? If you're bringing in enough income, then you might want to go for a dedicated server - or shared osting.

Its on a phpBB multi forum hosting account, I cannot use AdSence etc. However backups are now avalable at a cost. The forum is two years old in Feburary.
