But you probably know that higher popularity doesn't mean better. Many times, it's the other way around.
How about hacking issues? I've heard that PhpBB and SMF are easy to hack. Anybody have any experience?
MyBB (who i'm a Super-Mod over there) is updated quite often and unlike some "big" forum developing companies *cough* no names *cough* vb *cough* are friendly. It's very secure and has a brilliantly advanced theming system.
http://rapidshare.com/files/11475768/myBulletin_X.zip.html vbulletin default theme for mybb mybb version 1.2
vbulletin said they were shutting dow my board.. i dont nknow why btu someomne installed it for me... and i put all this work into it... pb-globe.com thats messed up if it gets shutdown
You heard wrong, as a former SMF Lead Support Specialist, I never came across any boards hacked as a result of SMF itself.
Wow! thats really looking like VB. Thanks alot, i will try using it (in future) instead of buying a VB license
As a VB owner myself, I will never use any other forum system. they are the best for me, and they have earned my respect/trust.
souljaboytellem, your site seems to run IPB, not VB, so why would they shutrdown your site? If you were running VB before, then it's probably because the guy who installed it, installed a pirated copy, and VB found out, and decided to close you down. If you received a warning from your host, then probably you had something against their ToS. Getting back to this VB for free thing, the downside to myBB is the lack of mods. but I noticed that recently they started to get new ones, and new themes as well. However, a lot of the authors don't allow you to redistribute, so you have to do some research to find some good themes. I made my own theme though, check it out in the link in my sig.
MyBB is indeed very good software, BUT MyBB has very little modifications out there, and also they don't have that much templates ... better opt for vBulletin
Points Mod. , Revenue Share, and a more efficient Ad Management mod. Actually the Rev. Share has been developed, but only for private use at the moment. The owner hasn't released it publicly yet
I am using all of the above... They all have some pro's and con's really... I'm trying out a new one in ajax now though.
I also have used myBB on one of my client's website. Its a free version of VB . I have also heard that they stolen some classes from VB. I have also used phpBB and SMF. I likes phpBB very much.
