VBulletin Errors - SQL Server Is Missing

I'm getting about 40-50 of these a day when I moved to a new dedicated server.

Another issue is; if you login and click on the home part of the forum it says you're logged out when you aren't. Also sometimes you login and it shows you aren't on main page. Now go to any sub forum and it shows you're logged in. I'm confused has anyone gotten this?

Is that the exact error you are getting, "SQL Server is Missing"?

The second thing may be related to the use of www. on your forums or cookies.

I got this one all day yesterday. Today i don't get this and i made no coding changes. What i think was causing me to get the database error was Hostgator upgrading the server i am on to the latest PHP and MYSQL version's.

Took about 48 hour's since they started the upgrade till things got better for my forum. Have you got this message again today? You really should contest your host and vbulletin to see if they can provide any information.

Also you really should think about upgrading your vbulletin forum software since more bug's and security fix's have been made since you last upgraded. This just a suggestion that's all. Just pretend i didn't mention it.

I had my SQL timeout at 60 and I set it to 90 and it's fixed I'd say 90% of the errors. Just as going from 20 to 60 solved a tone as well. I had an issue logging in where I logged in but then showed me as not logged in. If you click any forum it shows you as logged in... I would of thought it was a timeout except it could occur in a row so who knows. Odd to say the least.
