VBulletin best for SEO?

I recently updated my adult industry forum from phpBB to VBulletin in the hope of getting better traffic.

While my forum was running on phpBB, it showed up pretty well on Google, even after a few weeks.
Since upgrading to VBulletin however, it has almost completely disapeared from Googles listings and I was wondering what would cause this.

I was to that VBulletin was much more search engine friendly than phpBB so I must be doing something wrong.

Try a 301 redirect of the old forum to the new forum index page. Or if you did an import, find the 301 code to send the old threads to the new.

Things happen pretty quickly with 301s in place.

if anything, vbulletin can be one of the worst. Their URL structure is a long string of garbage. Look into getting the SEF plugin, for that forum or any other, right from day one.

Rudeforum.net has Google PageRank 0 out of 10, yet I'm sure it used to be a 5.
I'll try a 301 redirect and see if it helps over the coming weeks.

Many thanks for you kind suggestions.

i suggest you to focus on your meta tags, title and urls.

those may bring you more visitors from search engines.

The URL format has changed. It'll take time for Google to reindex all the pages.

I also recommend vbseo. I have it on my site and it has a lot of benefits. The urls are really cleaned up. I personally haven't had an INSANE increase in traffic from search engines but i will admit it did go up.
