    hello,
i have upgraded the php version from
    Version 5.2.16
    to
    PHP 5.3.16
    i'm running
    vBulletin v4.0.3

the forum was working ok before the upgrade
it only gives me that error when i do search
showing threads and everything is working fine except the search it gives me 500 Internal Server Error
i wanted to make sure is the problem about the vulletin version or something i have added to the forum like a plugin or a template so i decided to download a fresh copy of the forum and make a fresh install and i got the same error so it's about the forum version nothing else
unfortunately i'm not able to install any newer version than vBulletin v4.0.3 because my license expired

i tested vbulletin Version 3.8.4 it works fine
i test the latest Version 4.2.0 (nulled one so i don't want officially use it just to test)
so there's a bug in vbulletin version 4.0.3
i contacted the official site but no one replied to my thread!!!
do i have to buy an upgrade license or they should fix the problem ???

    best regards,
    Abdalla

does the older vBulletin run on that version of php?
either way you should definitely upgrade tot he latest 4.2.x
If you bought a license, you could upgrade it if that's what you're asking.
