WRONG! If you have a active license now.. it WILL expire. People don't understand there is a difference between a CURRENT license and a vB4 license. If you BUY the vB4 upgrade or license, then it's free for the LIFE of vB4. If you own a current owned license, then it WILL expire. YES! your current license WILL expire and you MUST pay what a vB4 owned license costs to use updates versions of vB4. Just trying to make that clear here to users. In the end.. technically your better off buying a new license or one that has been upgraded. A current owned license is really worthless as I see it.
Which is really sad, as I just gave them money just over a month ago. I am thankful the blog feature was not on the renewal list (vb removed it) or I would have given them even more money for something I'm not really using.
Thats why I didn't renew or do anything really. I guess renewing "might" have helped just a little. But overall.. at the end of the day our licenses ARE or were going to expire even with vB4. So really.. IB is giving NO benefits to current customers. It seems like NEW customers get more benefits than us. It's quite sad, because the LOYAL vB customers kept vB running. Now, they were spat on by the worst GM I've seen out there by the name of Ray Morgan.
They really screwed up when they left 3.8 for 4.0 at the time 3.8 was around, you had no problems finding a vb coder. vb coders seem to hate the new vb 4.x style/code system saying it is more complex., and it is funny that even most 3.8 themes rock, while 4.x themes just are not the same, and now there seems to be less coders for 4.x then there were for 3.8 I would love to go back down to 3.8 but the only problem I would have with this is that I do not have the blog for 3.8
price isn't that bad - what I find difficult with vBulletin is bloat. vB4 was supposed to be a reboot of vBulletin. It's not much different than 3.8 to be honest.
I do not even think I use any of the junk that they stuff VB with.... They are stuffing VB like a turkey, and I do not even use the options...
I agree with digitalpoint, its pretty cheap to be honest, for what you get its a good investment imo.. But you can also get the entire Vb package for like $120 at digitalpoint, thats how I got my one from.. just be extra careful, some people will try to rip you off..
