That is really cool. I think this is the first 3.5 upgrade I've seen outside of vbulletin.com. Nice to see that the customization work you've done translates easily.
I just caught something... sort of. Hopefully I can explain. When viewing in linear mode, a quick reply will be appended to the end of the list without a screen refresh. (very cool, btw). When viewing in hybrid mode, a quick reply will screen refresh and show your post on it's own screen. I was looking to check out the fast quick reply and thought... boy four posts and I keep finding threads that I end up on the next page. When I switched back to linear mode I saw the AJAX in action. Not really a problem. It doesn't affect my user experience much at all. But it is an inconsistency.
So you didn't have any qualms about using the beta code? I just wimped out from putting one into a production environment - but then I'm on the payroll. I probably would have used 3.5 if my time wasn't costing anyone anything
At 2amish, when I was trying to figure out HOW to reply to someone with the quick reply, it took me 10 minutes to realize that stupid arrow was the button.....and i'm not even blonde anymore
I'm not so sure I like this thing showing all the threads I haven't read. It takes a ton of time to mark every forum as read. If there was a button to mark all the forums read at once, it'd be better, but this is a little bit of a PITA. All of other forums I belong to, do it like "new since last visit" like this used to. Its much more convenient.
One benefit is that it makes the threaded view a lot nicer than before. You'd be surprised how many people really prefer threaded views.
Where did you get the snapshot? I just downloaded the version available to me in the members area. I'm wondering if there isn't a more current version out there.
Sure... http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/bugs35.php?do=view&bugid=252&status=10 do you see that bug? anyway; i think Shawn fixed some bugs, i didnt say that for DP forums.
Well, ok. I see. I guess that's the price of beta. Jelsoft is very specific in that this is an unstable beta. You should probably not upgrade till the release if those things are a bother to you. But those that install and try it create an enviorment where we see what's broke and they can address a fix. So it's a necessary step.
This posting a reply AJAX thing is well cool ! VBulletin is ace and so is this editing shit, wooooooo
Yep... if I wasn't a decent coder/administrator, I would never have installed it, because I knew there were going to be problems (especially with the FIRST beta). But if people like me didn't install the beta, no one would report any bugs. I've already reported 5 unique bugs for it, and would have reported 5 or 6 others, but someone already did. More importantly, all my crap is converted to the plug-in system already... hehe... such a nice feeling. heh
