Just go to 3.5... Although hacks/customizations will need to be redone. :)

Yes you are right but think I will go 3.9 and then if all goes well go straight to 3.5 as Ive hearded that a too bigger jump on the older .3.4.5.7 ect can cause problems

Man I hate updating although very easy and make sure you do a complete backup , Its just one of thoughs things that if it went pear shaped I would be sucking my thumb in the corner

Yeah, but once you get on 3.5 and convert everything to plug-ins, upgrades are cake. This forum does not require touching a single PHP file during an upgrade, so upgrades take like 30 seconds now. :)

Yeah, sometimes I am afraid i'm going to wake up and the plugin system would have just been a nice dream. :) It's really nice and allot of developers love it too.

I know... same here. It's almost too good to be true sometimes when I think about it. Lots of "too good to be true" things in vB 3.5. The template history (with diff), data managers, datastore, etc. :)

Yeah, the diff is pretty awesome. Makes keeping any custom template changes in sync with updated versions easy as cake.

For those not familiar with how diff works in CVS, this is what it looks like in vBulletin...

Thanks for sharing.. I would find that incredibly useful considering how I normally make changes to things.

I agree - unfortunately I have a few hacks that arent ported for 3.5 yet, so im waiting patiently. I am using 3.5 on a new forum im building and its pretty good on the backend IMO .

    3.5 is wonderful...

Moderation is *much* simpler, and the plugin ststem is incredible (Although I have been having a couple of issues getting the odd thing to work 100% right)...

DO the upgrade - Have a look around vB.org - I'm sure that lots of the popular plugins that were used on 3.0.x have since been ported... vB seems to have a great modding community there to support it.
