vBSEO's features cannot be compared with that of Zoint's. It is a pretty advanced product with hell lot of options.. I am 100% satisfied with vBSEO. The only problem is the heavy usage of server resources if you have a fairly big forum.

Anything that actually helps can be had with Zoints SEO and a couple of free add-ons:

    1. Set up a Google sitemaps account and then use one of the several free sitemaps add-ons from vbullletin.org, like Sitemap Generator.

    2. To help with initial spidering on a new forum, install Forum Archive List Forum Footer. It's ugly but you can disable or uninstall it when your forum gets going.

Some additional free add-ons I don't use but you might prefer to add:

    Relevant Thread Text

    Zoints Thread Tags

And see the vbulletin.com thread on vBSEO at http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=162960

Especially note this part from a vBulletin team member:

im now running a forum that brings in some serious revenue. $5+ (almost $8 when traffic is at its highest) for the last 6 days if I can keep that at a constant rate im looking at $150 a month. so im now looking towards vbseo

Just a question but does it warrant the $149 price tag? $10 more and I can get another VB owned licence. even $99 would look more appealing :p

I duno its alot of money.

Can the licence be transfered from 1 domain to another?

    No. Not even close.

Anything useful offered by vBSEO for that $150 you can get for free:

See Basic forum SEO: Start with the simple things.

The best package (free or paid, in my opinion, but this one is free) for vBulletin is Zoints SEO.

Add to that (more important for a new forum):

    1. Set up a Google sitemaps account and then use one of the several free sitemaps add-ons from vbulletin.org, like Sitemap Generator.

    2. To help with initial spidering on a new forum, install Forum Archive List Forum Footer. It's ugly but you can disable or uninstall it when your forum gets going.

Some additional add-ons I don't use but you might prefer to add:

    Zoints Thread Tags

um how does the automatic sitemap generator work?

I installed it correctly I believe but it does not tell me where the sitemap.xml file is located at so I can point google there.

probbaly sounds like a newbie question :p

Zoints SEO isn't a Google sitemap generator. What it can do is change {forum root}/archive/ to {forum root}/sitemap/ which just renames the link and optionally changes the URLs - I wouldn't bother with this option.

To generate Google/Yahoo/MSN sitemaps automatically, you need one of the free add-ons for vBulletin. The one I use is Sitemap Generator from vBSEO (free).

^^^ Perhaps you can see why someone would assume you were talking about Zoints SEO.

From the instructions for the sitemaps add-on:

If you do this, everything is automatic.
