You make good reasoning...? I was thinking, if the VBSEO so good, VBSEO.com forum should be on the big board list.
Is vBulletin.com or vbulletin.org on the big board list? If not, then there would be no way vbseo.com would make it in.
I would not run a vB board without vBSEO.. maybe I'm just addicted to playing with the settings, but sometimes when I get the right settings it is really like stricking Gold in terms of traffic... but you need to be a bit of a hobbyist and play around with things. Eric
It’s just a forum to serve customers of vbseo, not a general webmaster or a vbulletin forum and it is quite tough for a forum catering to only a product to reach big boards status (5,00,000+ posts), however they are on their way.
I think a more important indication of power for vBseo would be just how many of the vB forums that have reached big board status got there using it (or even use it).
If everyone achieve big-board status, the definition of a big-board would change. Let's be realistic. More traffic will certainly help a forum grow, and over time it can certainly achieve big board status. So, if that is your goal, then you need more traffic to do it... and vBSEO is the best thing you can do to get started on the path to forum superstardom. However - there are 10s of thousands of forums out that that will be successful even without ever achieving the lofty goal of big board. Month after month they will build their forum and earn passive revenue from traffic converted to ad clicks, or other products/service purchases promoted on their sites. So not everyone may end up making $1400 a day in ad revenue like one of our customers, but for many people even $10 a day in revenue is a nice addition to their family's monthly earnings. Forums of all sizes benefit from search engine traffic. Fortunately, for vBulletin powered forums, vBSEO exists to fulfill that role.
I think it is good, but don't use it for my forum because it has had established serps for months now, so installing it would make all the urls change and all the rankings go.
We apply 301 redirects automatically to inform the search engines of the new location of all pre-existing content. The earlier you choose to install the better. You will have less to get updated, and your growth can be accelerated.
I am interested in this, but how can I setup 301 redirects for 1000's of threads? I can't do it by hand, can vBSEO do this for me when I install? I know, but look at DP, it has no vBSEO but to my knowledge is the biggest webmaster forum. If I can't apply vBSEO without the 301 redirects then I wont install it at all
I have VBSEO and I've definitely seen a positive trend in activity and traffic since installation. I'm not saying its all VBSEO, but it has definitely helped with getting my pages indexed faster. I think it's a matter of convenience.. if you want to spend dozens of hours optimizing every small detail on your forum then go ahead. VBSEO has all of those small hacks and mods.. but you don't have to waste hours upon hours on installing and optimizing them. After all, time is money, and I personally think the time I've saved because of VBSEO is worth $150. Honestly, the only people who say VBSEO doesn't work are those who don't have it. I was kind of skeptical but I figured it would be worth the try.. if it didn't work I could have resold the VBSEO license. Fortunately, it has exceeded my expectations.. and I think thats all that matters. @calum: vbseo redirects all your old threads automatically by default.. no matter how many you have. You even have the ability to rewrite URLs from within the software with only a few lines of regex. (So even if you have a mod separate from VBSEO you can rewrite the links it outputs, without going into the files and editing each url individually)
I have set up my forum just 1 week ago and installed vbseo.I bought its licence at the same time with the vbulletin licence.I ve got about 200 post and 50 members and 180 indexed page.It is amazing..
Was the only promotion you did installing the vBSEO? I had 75 members in the first 2 weeks of my forum and average over a new member daily. I do not have vBSEO, but I did aggressively promote for a short time. It does not matter though... Content is king, and while vBSEO may be one of the kings mistresses, never forget that it's content. I joined Digital Point (that does not use vBSEO) because it kept getting the top SERP for the webby stuff I was looking for. I've joined other forums based on SERP and content (None have thus far used vBseo). So while the reviews of how well vbSEO is, keep in mind, it's still tertiary behind content, and people to give such content.
