    Hello VB Masters,

I have bought VB and VBSeo and installed that and I can see that there are lots of options. Well, I can look into all those but that will take time and I want to do some quick stuffs that I should do in start itself.

Please guide me of any good plugins/mods that I should install as I am a newbie in this. Also some settings that I should do for sure. Any other VBSEO Plugins etc.

Shawn, I know that you have done great modifications to become the best looking and fast VB forum. Your inputs will help me a lot.

Also, if someone can point out some good free skins to start with, I would love that.

You don't really *need* addons/mods... don't install stuff just for sake of installing them. It would only add to the clutter. Instead, figure out what you want and then find something to do it... not the other way around.

    Hey Shawn,

One quick question, the theme here in DP is almost similar to the default theme except for colors. So are you using the default theme with some color modifications in CSS?

and thanks for quick suggestion about mods/plugins but any settings that I should do from start to keep my forum fast and reliable.

PS: Why I am asking this question is bcoz of my experience woth Wordpress. When I started my blog in WP, i was very news to that and created so many categories only to realize later on that its only a clutter in the system. Now I have to always use the theme where I can hide these categories from getting displayed. So I don't want to make that mistake once again with VB.

The theme we use here is based on the default theme (obviously)... but it has a lot of minor tweaks to change things I didn't like about the default setup.

Reminds me when I first got converted to vB.

I installed so many hacks and mods,.. it got kinda ridiculous lol.

Now I strive for less as possible.

1 - active, and 1 installed but disabled pending need.

And it just makes things sooo much easier to upgrade. :)

Thanks ChopSuey to point me to that thread. I have done the changes to speed up my forum.

Although, I have started with shared hosting so speed is a bit slow because I can't install memcache but once I will upgrade my hosting, this will be in top of my TODO list.
