Ok I would like some input on varying anchor text. Assuming I am going to have 500 backlinks how many different anchor texts should I use and how should I use them. 100x5? 50x10? or should my primary keyphrase I am targetting be 50% of the anchor text used? Should I do anchor1,anchor2,anchor3 as I add links or should I do anchor1, anchor1, anchor1, x100 then switch to the next one? thx for your input - curious to hear the different responses...
If you have so much time, why don't you interchange ALL 500? Nobody has this formula - it's just free will
i think as long as the anchor text is relevant, you dont want to go overboard on the same keyword anchor text.It can be seen as spamming
A lot of variation helps, especially for an unranked site. That way you will get rankings for some easier terms fairly quickly while gradually building up rankings for the more competitive terms. It shouldn't matter if you alternate the anchor text each time or every 50 links. If you quickly get too many links with the same anchor text, there is a good chance that those links would be devalued or not count at all. So to be on the safe side, it might be worth alternating every time you get a new link.
If you vary your anchor texts but still use keywords that are still contextually related, then they will still all support your rankings, to some extent, even for your primary keyword.
