I wanted to setup more of a portal than a blog. A site similar to www.techcrunch.com. These are the following things i wanted and was wondering how could i achieve the following using wordpress: I know how to setup a normal blog with cateogaries but these are the following things i wanted to know: -Video tutorials - All are listed and when i click on one a page with the description of the video should come(a normal page).My question- How do i get the list thing going and which plugin will i need to run videos when the file will be on my server itself. -Meaning - Again i want a list a later a plugin whereinif there is any document word related to that meaning it creates a link like thing whenever it comes on the blog.(wikipedia kind linking but in this case only to the meaning terms) -Top100 sites - Wherein people vote for the top resources and the normal sites with the most votes comes up. Is this possible? -Integrate with SMF forum. Is it possible - Put the feedburner thing and the update on email plugin like www.copyblogger.com has -One more question. How many column themes would be ideal for a portal like site?How many column theme does techcrunch use?
1. for video tutorials - write proper article and when it comes to the video streaming then just upload your video to youtube.com and you can use the video streaming in your article. 2. 1. change the theme check this out carsrage.com list. You need to do the changes in the theme to get this type of listing or don't write and description just click <-- more --> and then type your article. by this you will get the list. 2. for top10 sites please check out google.com for wordpress plugins. 3. visit wp-plugins.net for downloads plugin. they have great plugins for it. i'm also using it .
Actually i wanted a list not throughout my site. Only under www.mysite.com/meanings. and i could not really find the plugin for the top 10 sites. Coud someone please help me out on this one and got the download extensions, thanks
