What should be that parameter to check if a directory has a value or not?

I have seen many directories who are using the word "link","Submission",etc in their domain name. Also many use the phrase "SEO Friendly Directory" some where in the body or meta tags.

Does google or other major search engine give value to directories which use SEO or SEO related words?
Does they categories such directory as spams?

In my own opinion, and view i would say that google could detect the keywords you listed and penalize sites linked or listed within the site.

I try to keep natural linking and directory submission to directories that are based only on the subject of site i am promoting, otherwise its a waste of time in a big directory.
