I'm looking for opinions on the value a blog adds to a larger website, vs. the value of standalone blog. Here's the situation. I have a travel website that currently includes a blog at domainname.com/blog/. However, I'm having some technical issues with the blog. I know how to fix them, but it will involve switching blogging platforms and basically starting over with the blog. My other alternative is to simply move the blog off the travel site, making it a standalone blog at its own URL. And then link back and forth between the two sites. This would involve less work (yay!) but I'd lose any benefits of having the blog as part of the larger website. But I'm not sure if those benefits outweight 1) the work involved in fixing the problem; 2) having a standalone blog at a good domain, building value into that domain; 3) the opportunity for crosslinking between the two. Any thoughts? thanks much
i dont think it maters to much wether you have a standalone blog or a domain/blog A domain/blog will bring traffic and maybe increse your sales. I allso have stand alnoe blog with domain/forum that does well.
