Hi All, I have just bought a couple of site wides to try and both boost PR a bit and get some traffic through. However I have just been reading an article which says that google now penalises sites for getting inbound sitewide. The article was actually about how people are doing this to their competitors, to get them struck off google altogether! Any thoughts? Thanks, Steve
you cannot be punished by links that are pointed to your site, I wish my competition would get load of site-wide links pointed at my site in an attempt to punish me, in fact i would probally pay them some money since it saves me having to link build however site-wide links can be de-valued, only the link on the first page or 2 will be given any weight (to help serps) and the rest will be ignored (i think) however if the pages have pr they will still help pr, and will still bring traffic
Thats what I thought, I have attached the article below: http://www.site-reference.com/Search-Engines/12037/index.html Although looking at their site the homepage is a PR0, surely not a very good sign for an SEO company!
Yeh, Anyone out there that sells nutritional supplements, please point a bunch of sitewides at my ambrotose site to punish me. Thanks!
I consider site wides to be similar to using the co-op. Approach it from the standpoint that it's an advertisement. If you get some benefits in the serps then it's a bonus. I use to be a fan of site wides a few years ago but I won't do them anynore.
