    Hi,

How do you value a site that is using YPN for advertising for a few weeks or a month?

I don't think it really matters, traffic is traffic and expenses is expenses.

Sorry, don't quite catch your drift...I have a site which is making from $7-$18 a day with YPN and am considering selling...I don't know how to value it though.

oh I get ya now, I thought you were asking about what it's worth if they get their traffic from PPC.

Generally, sites are worth around 10-12 months ad revenue

Any knowledgable buyer would know that the YPN payouts will change (probably drastically). I wouldn't pay more than 6 months profit for a site that relies entirely on YPN ads for revenue.

Yep.. monthly site revenue x 10-12 months is about the averege of what you can expect if you sell your site.. of course that can vary, but it's a guide..

Don't sell it! Keep it and get it to make you $70-120 a month and then some...

From my experiences x10-12 is pretty high, in real world businesses that maybe accurate but you'd be crazy to spend that money on a website that you never know when it may drop in rankings and be worthless. I've seen forums and other sites ask 10-12x but never sell over 6-9x monthly earnings. You never know though you might have someone who just really wants your site's niche.

I tend to agree with Serg and TiGG that a web site is not worth 12x monthly revenue. However, I have seen plenty of sites in the past year sell for more than that figure. You can try to apply standard business valuation figures to a web site, but you would be off every time. So many things affect price that are neither tangible, nor can they in and of themselves be given a dollar value in and of themselves.

For instance - take PR into consideration. A site with a fresh PR6 might sell well and be valuable to someone looking to sell advertising or gain co-op network weight, but ask 10 people what the value of a PR6 site is with no other information and you'll get 10 different answers.

And then there's Adsense/YPN revenue. A site may be bringing in $800/month steadily for 4 months and not have a single buyer looking into it because it was either banned or was based on a hot keyword that everyone knows about now and would be impossible to maintain a reasonable search engine presence for.

If you're looking to cash out on a few months work, but are leery of selling it too cheap, auction it off with a reserve in the forums and see what happens. If you have a site with a solid history and a good sized community you will gain more than a new site gaining a few bucks a day, but really what matters is who sees the auction and hopefully you end up finding two or three people who have money that are in the market for exactly what you are selling.

I would pay 20 times revenue for the right site. I'm not in the business of losing money either .

True enough. The right site can be worth dramatically more. Potential revenue is a risky venture, but it can be a major factor.

Look at google buying urchin - they spent millions of dollars so they could give a product away for free. Smart move on Googles part, but moves like that are strictly the territory of guys who have a lot more capital than me.

I just paid for a site at 10x monthly revenue... However, I already have plans and going well in tripling the monthly revenue within the first month ;)

really you are the only one who can answer your own question... whats it worth to you? Se traffic adsense/ypn all can bounce up and down so fast. The only traffic that is money is type in or brand recognition and if you have a site with that you are a fool to sell it.
