Im curious about the value from links from .edu sites. Not a dollar amount, but SEO value. How much more value would you say there is in having 3 links from .edu domains? btw, these 3 links are on pages that have PR5, PR5, and PR6. I am basically just wondering if these links will carry more weight then from a .com site. How much more weight does google give to .edu sites?
They are really no different than a PR5/PR6 .com link. The ONLY difference is that IF the .edu is one of the very old .edu sites that have been around since the beginning of the internet LOL then links from those sites likely pass your site a LOT of domain trust. But if it is some new (as in the last 10 years) type .edu site, it's not likely to be any more valuable than an .com with an equivalent PR. Having trusted domains link to your site and your site linking to trusted domains adds to your sites' domain trust which has a minor effect on the rankings of all of the URLs on your site since it is a domain-level ranking factor like domain age and domain authority. Other than possibly domain trust, they are really equivalent from an SEO value perspective.
thanks for the reply. Luckily the links are from research.wayne.edu and life.wayne.edu , which both are showing up on archive.org as older then 10 years so you think it is a good idea for me to try to get more links up I take it.
