It appears that being active in forums like DP can help your link building, traffic and serps ranking, but I am wondering if this applies to someone like me? I have a lingerie site and will continue to participate here regardless of the forum signature value but would it be of greated benefit to me to also be active on a related forum to what my site is about? I have looked and am not finding any forums that are about lingerie, and the general fashion forum sites are usually about high fashion or couture and are either very low traffic, low pr and certainly don't have the value anywhere near a dp. Any thoughts on the lingerie forum issue, and how much can my sig on a site like dp really help. I note that seo gurus are getting a lot of juice out of being here and wonder how this applies, if at all, with a site that is in another niche?
if you think you would like to participate in this forum or any forum, i would just go ahead and do so without worrying about relevance. some forums will help you more than others, DP being one of the best IMO, but no forum sigs really are going to hurt. you could learn a lot here as well, but forum sigs alone probably wont do it for you, you will need to diversify.
Having a link to your site in your signature is always a good thing it doesn't matter what the forum is about because you never know who is reading your post and what they are interested in. Just because I'm on a forum about kittens doesn't mean I won't click a link that has to do with nascar.
I agree with both of you! Thanks. I was looking for a forum that was related to my niche - fashion, clothing or lingerie and am having no luck in finding any of the stature of a dp forum. The forums that are in the niche are more about the latest french couture and there is nothing wrong with that and I will participate there as well but there isn't much to learn as there is here. Also they are no follow and participation is well, minimal. Nothing bad here, just wondering about how to participate in forums and get back links in my own niche.
No idea, figured i'd just try it since it seems I'll need to be sticking around here and learning a lot more.
