I am looking into registering a few previously used domains and I was wondering if a site with say a 100 backlinks will bring any traffic at all? would it be profitable to just "park" the site with some adds and some links to my other developed domains? if the site has PR would I be able to sell a link just to cover the 2-5$ it cost to register the domain?
Yes to all of those questions, but it depends on the domain, the links, and a host of other variables. There is no "Cut and dry" rule book that says with specifics what will happen. Each domain has an individual identity and individual circumstances. Without knowing the URL, no one can even give you a best guess. But in my opinion, if you see something that you think it is worth a shot, and you are seriously agonizing over $2-$5 for a domain, maybe you should look into doing something else. You should be able to make a $5 decision without thinking.
well I think i can afford to loose 5$ but if I wanted to do it on a larger scale maybe 100x or 1000x it would be nice to hear if its possible to make money or not. If other people have tried and failed I am not arrogant enough to think that for some reason I should succeed. just looking for other peoples 0.02$ thanks for your answer though
Sorry I didn't mean to offend you, but there are many people of very different means and ages here. Of course it's possible to make money from parking domains, however at this stage in the game, meaning that most relevant and profitable domains have been registered, it may be best to take that budget and invest in some proven keywords, and domains that are going to appreciate in value. Most everything that you register now as an investment is going to be junk. Sorry, that's just the stage that we are at. There are many domains for sale that will be a good investment for you. You are going to have to spend more on few , instead of less on many.
If it dropped recently, then it was probably tasted... And if the tasters didn't keep it, then you have to wonder whether it's worth keeping for the traffic (but that's not to say that all domains that eventually let go by the tasters aren't any good). If those 100 links are from link farms, you prob won't generate much traffic. But if they're from high quality pages, then you will see some traffic. There isn't a simply yes/no to your question... Some sites will be profitable, some won't.
