value of domain name keywords

I was wondering the value of domains that have keywords in them to use as traffic generators, search engine results pages, etc. even if the domains aren't the traditional .com, .net, etc. For example, let's say you've got a medical site (which is the case here) and they want to drive traffic related to their business like these domains:

    ankle-injuries.ws
    knee-injury.me
    knee-pain.us
    joint-pain.biz
    knee-injury-doctors.ws
    ankle-break-doctors.ws

I'm just assuming that those keywords pop up as amongst the highest for orthopedic doctor sites. Are these domains of true value? For example, they can put up different minisites or other information on these sites, rss feeds from their main medical site (they publish items daily) that can also go from categories to the sites (e.g. they have an ankle specialist who can have a feed to the ankle site.)

This is one area I need assistance and was hoping for opinions and willing to also discuss services if you have them. Most important is information gathering mode...

Are you asking if having keywords in a domain name will increase ranking? If so, it can, but remember such contribution to ranking would be minimal. Remember, there are more than 200 criteria search engines use to rank a page and having keywords in domain is one of them. That's less than 0.5%.

So what you're saying is that registering more of these keywords really isn't going to do much for the site and chances are that, without some real development, having backlinks to the main site and putting up some type of refreshed content is actually more effort than it is worth. It seems like it's probably a hassle... yet I've seen people register quite a number of these domains for various strategies.

WS is a horrible domain extension. Only go for .com and .net extensions - it's a total myth that google values all domains equal.

Also -'s are not as good as keyword.

If you were using the .com or .net , it might help you greatly but with the extensions you are using, I doubt it.

I would have to say that the whole idea is a waste of time. It would be extremely spammy to setup so many 'mini sites'. Each website would just be an unmarketed PR0 website that helps very little. They wouldn't get direct traffic and they won't help the rankings of your main site. With a little bit of marketing they might help a little bit, but it would still be asking the search engines to penalize you. Instead of mini sites, trying creating an article for each of those topics. Submit those articles to article directories and then you essentially have mini sites on each directory.

    SERPS is links.
It is good to have the keywords in your title, not becuse of any special powers, but you are more likely to get the desired anchor.
    ws mind......
No one will link to a ws
