Value of bulk purchasing inbound links?

This question has probably been asked before but I was wondering the value of bulk buying inbound text links from sites like

http://[wwweb][dot]onewaytextlinks[dot]com
http://[wwweb][dot]linkexchangeexperts[dot]com

And sites like that selling 200 backlinks for one off fee. Has anyone had any good experiences getting multiple inbound links this way?

I have read that google take a dim view to purchasing text link ads (bet their shareholders don't share this same view!) I don't realy see myself how they can determine whats a paid link and whats a natural link?
