Article marketing isn't enough on its own to help you rank for any competitive keywords. You can get Ezines articles to rank for longtail keywords so you may get some traffic as well as a backlink. You won't get much in terms of PR - for this you will need to use other linkbuilding techniques - like finding pages with a good PR to place your link on. I'd say that an article would give you a stronger backlink than a press release or a social bookmark.
I disagree totally with this opinion and would like to explain why. Proper article marketing can be a solid way to build backlinks, the problem is 99% of the people doing it do it "wrong". Article marketing isn't simple and requires a lot of work. First, each article needs to be unique; meaning you can't just post the same article all over the net. Second, you need to choose the right article directories, I've listed a few below. Third, you need to proper link to your site using these articles; make sure to link to the root domain AND one inner web page, and rotate this inner web page with each submission. Make sure the article's content is unique, and relevant to your website; this helps build relevant back links. I've successfully ranked for many different keywords that could be considered competitive with article marketing in my link plan. Again, this isn't the ONLY thing you do, just one of the many things you intergrade into your backlink building plan. as far as i know, Associated Content allows you to earn from revenue sharing but you cannot really add any link on the article to your site.
1. Ezine artcle can give backlinks and possibly traffic. Because it has high PR incoming backlink. 2. If the free Press release site has high PR then you can get correspondingly equivalent value. 3. Its readability, understandability, and aiding rapid comprehsnsion. 4. I guess that is too distant a dream. You need a good conbination of multiple seo action factors like social bookmark, rss, search engines, etc.
Hmmm well I think we agree that article marketing is good to support your strategy to rank well but is not strong enough on its own.
Regular articles on ezine would not lead you towards a good PR, it depends on other SEO techs too. Rather ezine article would grant you good backlinks. Articles are good in value and giving more than bookmarking, press releases.
That's a lot to achieve although it sounds simple. Writing 2 articles a day would take me all day, and then I would need to change the articles so that they aren't the same for each directory. Then submit them to 9 directories, following each directory's guidelines. Then wait for approval for each article. Then wait until Google finds the article. Then wait for Google to ascertain that the article is indeed original. Then wait until Google says "I'll give them 2 backlinks for that". But it is a buzz when you find that people are actually reading the articles and when they start to subscribe to your profile in anticipation of the next article - That gets you even more interested in writing further articles. It's a big merry-go-round.
Ezine is one of the top quality article directory. If you get your article placed on ezine you can get more traffic and quality back link too.
By the way, if you are looking for link juice, ignore Articlesbase because the backlinks are nofollow.
writing articles can not be used alone to get high PR, it is just one part of the search engine ranking program. IMO, unique articles contributes to the link building, such as blog.

Yeah that is true. Ezine is rather easy to post on as well as some of the others. However, some of them are a pain...Articlebase can be a lengthy process.
