I run an online game news site (not commercial) and am currently considering selling it.

    Yahoo backlinks (linkdomain): ~25,000
    Uniques per day: ~250
    PR: 6

Can someone give me a rough ballpark what I could get for that?

Well generally the price of a website is somewhere between 3 to 12 months revenue depending on how stable it is. A lot of other factors are involved as well but this is a good rule of thumb.

That tool does not take actual content, theme and visitors in account, so it shouldn't be used for anything but undeveloped domains.

You have to use average income generated in a year.

Thanks for the replies so far!

Well, the site hasn't been monetized (more of a hobby than anything else).

So I was wondering, what the "sum of parts" would be: a good two-word keyword domain, pr 6, 25000 links in yahoo, and maybe 100 uniques each day via search engines. Overture keywords (OV KW tool) for the topic of this site are priced at approximately 40-50 cent per click.

    Leapfish says $1200.

Well why dont you just apply for adsense and give it a try. That will give you more leverage when you try and sell it.

That may be the biggest problem.

People with money to invest in sites are looking for this as #1: How much is it earning? Net. After all expenses. And after taking out a reasonable sum as salary for the webmaster time it takes.

Your site not making a profit? It won't interest the hard-core businessman. Especially as it's a "news" site and news sites generally require a time commitment to keep them up to date.

So you're looking for someone who shares your hobby? The problem is .... students into games often don't have the money.

So you look for someone who shares your hobby and has the money....why would he pay you for the site when you are doing all the hard work to keep it updated and he's doing all the enjoying (by reading the updated content)?

Find a reason for that and you'll have a hook for a buyer.
