Value links are not only high PR

I have just wrote a post about the things to look after in your text links building efforts, and the PR of the link is not the only thing.

Think relevancy for the page itself, the images and the text on it. Also the place of the page in the niche, in the site its on and in the industry related to this page and to yours.

PR5 from financial site, contact page, will not help and can harm your babies toys website ( think of the fall of directories )

    Good luck

yes, you have hit the nail on the head. People spend too much time on PR, I would rather have no PR and be ranked #1 for my niche than have PR5 and be on second page.

The rule is - "It has to be relevant", so your site and link and linking site must be a match

its not so much pr but value of total links external internal and outgoing. The same kind of site obviously helps but it doesnt hurt you if its not a related industry thats just folly.

The trick is to combine links from relevant pages with a lot of irrelevant links, that give you PR.

It is true links from relevant sites are the best.

Getting links from sies that are not relevant won't really harm you - they just won't do as much good per link.

For example, if I had a fishing blog and saw an article about Cheryl Cole getting divorced - if I put this link on my blog as most fishermen would find this interesting, it won't have a negative effect on the site with the story. It will still count as a link although I am not a relevant site for them.

Yes this is quite right. Links from reputable websites are considered more wealthy than links coming in from high PR websites or blogs.

I agree with that, high pr does not mean a good link. you have to see all perspectives.

    Dead wrong!

If this were the case there would be hundreds, maybe even thousands, of people working to deliberately "harm" the websites of their competitors.

No one can control who links to your website, and Google knows this. There is no way that this kind of linking can harm your website. Google wouldn't penalize your site simply because you have a link from a topically unrelated website.

Well, i believe it is also good to have a well-diversified links. So more niches should be fine to enhance the nature of the backlinks.
