Hello, I signed up a few days ago for the co-op advertising. Everything seemed to have gone well except that when I validate I get a message saying that the ads were not found on that page. eg. http://www.digitalwildlifephotography.com/index2.php?option=com_content&do_pdf=1&id=62 Now the pages in question don't exist, they are pdf files which I removed from my Mambo 4.5.2 installation. If I re-validate once again I get another PDF id file as an error. The coop links appear correctly at the bottom of my web page (www.digitalwildlifephotography.com), the weight seems to have been calculated, just this problem with PDFs. Any ideas ?? regards, DWP
If the files no longer exist, you need to get them out of the Google index. You can do that here, with more information on that here. If you still have other PDFs that you want to keep, you also need to remove them from the Google index and keep them from getting indexed (you can use the robots exclusion standard for that). Shawn: maybe it would be legit for the Ad-network validator to check the file type of the page and if it's pdf, zip, gz, exe etc, then not require that ads be on that page, what do you think?
Thanks exam. I did see all those PDFs in the Google index, but I didn't think it was related. Robots file now has Disallow: /*pdf$ Regards, DWP
robots.txt file syntax doesn't allow wildcards, so /*pdf$ won't work. Maybe you can use the link I mentioned to remove any pdf's currently in the index and from now on when you link to a pdf on your site, add the rel="nofollow" attribute to the link.
OK thanks for the reply. I've too many PDF files in the Google index to use the "remove" url feature. Would IndexIgnore *.pdf in the htaccess file do the trick ? regards, DWP
