Well I attempted to set up my forum today... over at www.landroversonly.com/forums and I am getting this message when I try to validate:

So what does this mean? What is "Somewhere appropriate"???

Ads are not showing up and I can't figure out why.... aack.... ok, upon further review it says to add just "$ad_network" to the 3 sections above, is there some code missing????

I'm confused on the question... did you do all the steps in the setup?

I'll tell you where I placed $ad_network in the templates. You can place them anywhere almost, but these worked fine for me. The only thing that really matters is not to place them inside a tag.

footer: Right above "", with a
added in between, in the lower half of the template

Show Thread Templates >> SHOWTHREAD_SHOWPOST: Just above
at the bottom of the template

Printable Thread Templates >> printthread: Right above "$vbphrase[powered_by_vbulletin]" near the bottom of the template

If $ad_network isn't returning anything, then the plug-in isn't enabled.

aaaghh... I've installed and upgraded several vBulletin packages, phpAdsnew, CMP, etc.. but this thing is really confusing.. the installation instructions are just lacking... I have done all that has been suggested. However the poor installation instructions leave me wondering if I have done it right...

Yes, I have customized many of my templates already...

ok... let me explain what I have done based on what I read from the instructions...

1. I created a file called ad_network_147.php in WordPad and uploaded it under my "forums" directory on my server.
2. I made a file called ad_network_ads_147.txt in the same directory
3. I added the "$ad_network" in the places you described
4. I downloaded the product and then used the "manage products-->Add/Import Product"

did I miss something.. I did not do anything to the product after download, I just used the abover Add/Import feature..

This is very frustrating... the instructions are very vague

You didn't say whether you changed the permissions for ad_network_ads_147.txt, though I guess you must have, else you'd be getting an error message.

The only think I can think of is to make sure the contents of the plug-in .xml file are referencing the right filename; maybe the wrong suffix got downloaded somehow. i.e., make sure it says:
include ('ad_network_147.php');

Rather than some other number than _147.

aghhhhh... the file I downloaded says 145... NOT 147.. let me change it and see what happens..... this is weird...

ok.. so I looked at the Setup files again.. now the DP Coop page is giving out all code with 148.. sooooo.. I deleted all the files from my server and uploaded all the new ones with the 149 code.. still nothing.. definitely going to bed now.. it's midnight and I am too tired and frustrated.. will try again tomorrow.. any other ideas on what might be wrong will be appreciated... thanks for all the help!
