Validating wrong site?

I got an email to tell me that my site did not pass an automatic validation. Then the email gave me a link to the page where the ads did not show. Thing is, that was not my site. Not even close.

I logged in and check my settings and yes it was set up for MY site. I did a manual validation and it worked and everything is back up now.

So my question is, why was I notified/penalized for problems on ANOTHER site??

What's the URL of your site, and the one it didn't find ads on?

(Woah. Thought my post got deleted. It was just moved! You guys should leave a 'shadow/copy' of the topic in the original forum... *shrug*)

Hmmm... I'm not seeing that URL with the Google API, maybe it was just a fluke on Google's part.

Better yet, people should post in the right forum. :)

Fluke? Hmm. Maybe. Shouldn't it be the DP script that goes through and check each domain and then sends out the warnings? I don't get what google has to do with it. Isn't the API just used to grab the PR and the # of pages in the url? It's almost like it attributed problems with another site to the wrong ad-network account. Hm..

Yup. My bad. I was cross-eyed by all the green boxes!! Didn't notice the special forum. Ah well. Learn something new every day. :D

Well, eeve is no longer with our organization so I'm taking over her responsibilities. Apologies if I'm a bit clueless. She showed me everything she thought I'd need, but I'm sure there's a lot more.

I just got an(other) invalidation notification for phpadvisory.com due to an all4mambo.com webpage not running your ads. We'd never heard of that website, at least not before all this delisting stuff. I think what happened is that this one page on that all4mambo.com site was set up to redirect to phpadvisory.com before. Don't ask me why. In any case, Google took that redirect to mean that it was a part of the phpadvisory.com site. And as I understand it, your systems check Google to see which pages belong to a website.

Hit #8 is (bizarrely) that all4mambo.com page, a supplemental result.

Keeping in mind that we have nothing to do with that all4mambo.com site, is there anything we can do on our end to keep from getting delisted because of Google's stupidity? Alternately, is there any modifications you could make to your systems that could either disregard supplemental results or disregard results that aren't located on the same domain?

In the meantime, I've gone and re-enabled phpadvisory.com. Please tell me that we won't incur any penalties for (apparent) abuse if we keep re-enabling the site and you keep delisting it. As you can tell, this whole mess seems pretty much out of our control right now. I really hope there won't be any problems.

Again, I'm sorry if all this has been asked and answered before, but I couldn't find it in your forums -- besides what I found in this thread, of course. Thanks for your patience with a newbie to your link exchange system.

Whoops. That's certainly a very nice smiley this forum put in the middle of my google URL. Let's just try that again, this time checking the "Disable smilies in text" box.

[Edit - or I could just have edited my original post in the first place. Duh.]
