Hi Everyone This is my first post so without further ado, I had better declare myself a Noob. I can hear the groans already lol. I'm a musician with limited experience of web design, although I do enjoy the challenge - gulp! I decided to build a website a number of years ago as a resource for guitarists and lovers of rock music in general. Through necessity I have had to learn more and more about what is needed to put together a good web site and have thus far managed to blunder my way through the countless issues that I have come across. With everyone's friend Google (cough) as my source of info I have thus far managed to overcome many problems. Then I recently decided to tackle SEO ... OMG what am I doing I ask myself? What prompted my frantic foray into the mysterious world of SEO is that I had inadvertently, with absolutely no idea how, managed to get a few first page rankings for several of my pages with certain keywords. The recent new Google algorithm has not only lost me my high rankings, it seems to have kicked me out of the Google indexes altogether! I never did manage to get listed with any of the other search engines. That's on my to do list when I have completed my housekeeping. I found a few helpful gadgets and plug-ins to assist in my adventures and then I tackled Validation! I have searched and searched for info re a problem I have and have thus far not had any luck. I have my fingers crossed that you nice people will be kind and help me out. Introductions out of the way... Here is my problem: I am systematically trawling through my pages with the help of a variety of tools tidying up my code, links, spelling blah blah and I have found that almost all Amazon, eBay and even Google creatives, scripts etc fail the validation tests. I don't have the knowledge to rewrite them and doubt that they would work properly if altered anyway. So I wondered if there was a way I could use robot.txt to disallow indexing of all creatives, banner ads, scripts etc? Or perhaps there's a clever way to get around the problem? I'm really stuck so would welcome and appreciate any advice at all Thanks
