Thanks, Todd, I keep forgetting that Hostgator has a forum. I'll check it out. My sites are now back up, but the header is still showing a 302 redirect. No word yet from Hostgator on when this will be fixed.

Hostgator finally answered my request for support about the 302 issue. Initially they claimed they could not find an error. I provided them with proof and they then said "it was a known issue and the system admin was working on it and it will be resolved soon"

How soon is soon? We'll shall see.

I'm getting more and more frustrated with this situation, since there is nothing I can do to fix it.

It has now been over 24 hours since I contaced Hostgator customer support. Not even an acknowledgement of the problem has been sent to me. I'm relieved that Suzanne got a reply - that tells me that at least they know there is a problem. It would surely be nice, however, to hear an update or something that would tell me that they care that a customer has a problem and are working to fix it.

I've also posted this problem in their own forum, without any response from support at all. This is really maddening!

The problem of not being able to validate any of those sites is bad enough. But I'm also worried about how Google and other SE's are going to perceive those 302 redirects in the headers of our sites. I know Google hates 302 redirects. I don't want my sites penalized because of lousy customer support on Hostgator's part.

    Linda,

I too received a response similar to the one above from Hostgator. Although I had to reply to their original response as they misread my original message. Great lack of details.

Anyway, this afternoon I fired off another response with regard to whether this had anything to do with Santy and what the estimated time was for the fix. No response so far.

Just decided to check the Hostgator forums again. On Linda's post, there has been a response and the situation is supposedly fixed. And it actually is on my servers!

I finally received an email from Hostgator that it was fixed after waiting 36 hours. I've just revalidated all my sites and they are now working fine. What a relief - I thought I was going to have to move all those sites to a new host. Not a fun job for a Friday. :)
