I looked at the top-100 pages yesterday, and there is a surprising (at least to me) number of pages that appear to belong to the front-runners ... based on style and/or linking pattern.

My guess is people will start doing 301/302 redirects to consolidate/boost their "power" to a single page, so I would not be surprised to see things moving around a bit and maybe another one of those pesky little pages pop up.

BTW, looking at various data centers, the top-10 results are pretty darn consistant - most stable I have seen it. And with Big Daddy deployed, my guess is we'll see changes, but those should be reflected fairly quickly across all the DC's.

Actually, just in case you're interested, I conducted a few experiments a while back, just to see how effective a last minute weight dump would be (an obvious tactic).. and I had quite a pleasant suprise.

There is an optimal amount of weight to themed IBL ratio. Too much and you dive like a bomb, too little and you might as well be a fart in the wind. The experiment was conducted across several sites, and I eventually got it tuned.

I mentioned it way back in this thread somewhere..

Point being tho.. late starters will have to do more than throw some weight around. It's already been done, and G is watching (dammit)

Why on earth I give these things away i have no idea..

Alek, you were right about Google stabilizing as it were.

Todays BEST performers in the top 500 moved a maximum of just 26 places. The last three (of the top ten) best performers moved just 1 place.

This is a tad spooky.. going back over the past weeks movements, I can see the mean dropping (across all 500) in place movements..

So much for a fine tuned strategy..

Take a look at some different data centers - for the first few months, there was quite a bit of varience across the DC's - I hardly see any now - Big Daddy is doing well.
