The key to the scheme is that webmasters are only adding a few outbound links to their sites so it won't devalue them in any way.

If a site adds another 5 links on a links page to relevant sites then this couldn't be interpreted as a link farm at any stretch of the imagination.

I appreciate that the links earned by this method won't be on the highest value but because they are one way, relevant and static they will be of higher value than standard link exchanges and link vault/coop schemes.

Also you get twice as many links back as you give to other sites and the links you gain are of the same or higher PR.

Actually, that's a very good question !
I've not even bothered to track any of it !

The whole purpose of the site is to demonstrate that the correct linking strategy can work, regardless of scale (especially where emerging brands are concerned).. and I think it's done that, as has the ND site.

It never occured to me to track traffic, as I haven't really been interested in it

For comparison purposes, I rank #1 in Google for car stories ... out of 157,000,000 pages ... and the number of inbounds for that term in a week can sometimes be counted on two hands ... ;-)

So always interesting to see how many human surfers actually come to play with those words which is another indicator of how competitive the keyphrase is. But even if not searched too often, I'd expect tons of "google pages" out there, so impressive to rank #3 for that terms.

 

Yeah, quite true. I have seen a few folk migrate to ND from that site, so it's taking a few visitors, I'll set up that stats tracking shortly..

As for competing pages, you're quite right about the numbers. The best way to evaluate the true number of competing pages is to enclose the phrase in quotes.. yours for example goes from 200,000,000 to 56,300 while google pages is similarly reduced from 396,000,000 to just 733,000

V7ndotcome elursrebmem goes from 5,470,000 to 5,250,000 - the difference being almost imperceptible, which makes sense for what it is

Oddly enough you just reminded me of something I need to tweak (another tool)
