Now that BTDino is finished, I can join that contest. Of course, I set my own page a few weeks ago but didn't promote it at all (still lagging at #81). BTW, my goal is to enter the top 25. If it is possible for someone like me that still has every thing to learn...

At position 89 and moving up. Still need to trade about 10 to 12 links to put on my main page. That muscle pic is unreal...

I've submitted all my blog entries to googlebase, I checked this morning and saw they'd removed all my v7ndotcom elursrebmem posts.

Bizzare - why would they remove V-E stuff?

BTW, weather data (outside and inside!) has been added to the Paint Webcam ... along with a fan to "quicken" the paint drying ... just watch out Black Hats for the snapping alligator - sorry I can't rebroadcast streaming video for the full effect on this ... ;-)

    Find the answer here: Explanation

No but seriously, I also have a real question to ask you guys.
I am thinking of starting a blog and only write about seo contests in this blog.
The hosting will be in the U.S but are there some hosts you should avoid in SEO purposes that is.
Or will any host be perfect?

I see no reason to be concerned about the physical location of the server. Not in terms of SEO anyway.

As for your business, I'd be concerned about the country data you provide when registering your domain. If your primary contact is in, say, Australia, but you're targetting a UK/US audience, well, let's just say consistency is the best rule of thumb.

Just my 2 cents worth (kind of like those folk who worry about seperate C class IP's but forget to ensure they resolve through different DNS') :)

    Cheers,

    JL

FYI: Looks like JimW is taking a break in the V-E SEO Contest - he writes on Feb 27th: I am letting this contest rest due to overload of clients. No active participation will be done by me and this page will no longer be updated. Some backlinks will also be removed. I might return with full power in beginning of may to go for the #1 spot but that is not decided yet. I did well in the contest, was #1 and #2 for almost 1 month and achieved what I wanted to achieve.

I'm sure being mentioned in the Wall Street Journal has helped his business, so congrats Jim ... and I have mixed feelings about you taking a break because I enjoyed having you in the competition - Team Sweden will especially miss 'ya! ;-)

Yes the wallstreet journal probably got him some nice business which is significantly more than the prize money of the contest.

Interesting ... and yea, makes sense - while I appreciated the support of folks who did Link Vault links for the charity site, my guess is that overall, this will probably have a bigger effect on other competitors (?)

I also got this mail today...
To bad I just started out with Linkvault for my contest site.
But "no danger on the roof" I only had 45 links there so not much of a big effect but still....

And yes team Sweden thinks it very sad to see Jim out of the contest, I hope he will be back.

Well blow me down if Niche Dynamics didn't just make #1 :)

Maybe I've been having too much fun with this thing.. either way, there's a few new tools in the works that I think you're all going to like.

As usual, they're being created to add value for webmasters, and I'm also tweaking the features on existing tools.

Presently I'm adding CDR or a 'Common Datacenter Rank' to the scorecards and movers and shakers. This simply reflects your most frequently occuring rank across the datacenters. Take for example sqlspace dot com..

Although ND is basically playing tag with them for top spot right now, their rankings as I type this are (1|4|4|8|8|10|8|4|10|4|8|4|4|4|8|10|4|4|4) across the various datacenters - so their CDR is 4 as it occurs most frequently.

Of course it's just another metric, but it will hopefully give a little extra insight into whats down the road (or not) :)

    Cheers,

    JL

I am playing tag with another (as in moving around), but it does depend on region.

Here's Niche Dynamics ranks grabbed about 30 mins ago from the various Datacenters..
    2|1|1|3|3|4|3|1|4|1|3|1|1|1|3|4|1|1|1

Actually, anyone happen to know if/which specific DC caters for Japan (ie John Scotts location) ?
