So I looked at the Yahoo backlinks for this V-E contest entry (which currently ranks #1) and the vast, vast majority appear to be COOP links - not hard to tell if you know what to look for.

Based on the almost 1,000 backlinks (over 1,200 in MSN), my guess is a fair amount of weight ... any DP'er want to 'fess up as the person(s) behind the site and how much weight they are putting into it? It's definately an interesting test of COOP "power" to see how much it can influence rankings for what promises to be a fairly competitive keyphrase ... plus v7ndotcomelursrebmem.co.uk is an ideal domain name ... so whoever is doing this is a serious competitor, but is laying low for now since private whois registration and no identifying information on the page.

I initially thought it might be Shoemoney since he commented in this thread: "i'm going to lay low then about may 1st ill put 5 million coop weight on it and kill you all!!!!" ... but he later posted "I'm seriously not even planing to reg a domain for this until april... I just have no patience" ... but then again, shoemoney is known as a crafty poker player! ;-)

BTW, this same site is running some hilarious Adwords for Google V-E so they got a good sense of humor - one example is "$4000 buys a lot of clicks. Link to me so I don't have to sell my car.

 

My site has 1173 backlinks on msn (first time I have checked and I am very suprised!) and is only 38th so far in the contest.

Current coop weight? about 2k.

 

BTW, I see Jim's site has moved up to #2 ... and it's #1 if you just search for v7ndotcom or elursrebmem - nice work. BTW, there seems to have been a "roll-back" of results from more than 3 million to less than 3 million - maybe someone with a couple of hundred thousand auto-generated web pages got dropped (?)

The different numbers in results all depends on which DC you are looking at and if you use Google.com you can get served any DC they like for that moment.

When I check I use:

As that one seem pretty much up to date all the time.

 

That is showing less than 3 millions results (which I'm also seeing a number of other places) ... whereas yesterday, I was very consistantly (and across several DC's) seeing 3+ million when I did my Feb 1st update - here's a screenshot - you were #2 in that one also.

Great job Jim - also glad to see that V7ndotcom paint moved up a spot in your screen grab ... and actually two if you ignore the indented results, so I'm right behind 'ya. BTW, any reason only one Adword showed ... or did you crop those out - half the fun of looking at the SERP's is seeing what people have come up with there.

And oh yeah, bring on your backlinks and I certainly accept that challenge ... something "interesting" should POP this Sunday that you not only be able to read, but also listen to - stay tuned - heh, heh! ;-)

P.S. Jim: Folks over at V7N are also reporting big change in the rankings with you moving into #1 spot - theory seems to be sandbox effect against the V-E domains. I haven't seen on my end yet even on Big Daddy, but sounds like some shuffle is coming.
