I'm gonna have to agree, on the NP comment. She was a big part of the disappointment I found in the latest "StarWars" trilogy. How do you know the mask is "gay"?
when I say "gay ass" I mean a sort of degrogatory term, lacking in any desirable mascline qualitys , kind of a combination of lame, uncool, with a slightly femmine, or homesexual tint to it
To understand the mask you have to understand the history behind the story... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Fawkes
I guess I still do not understand. You're saying that, or inferring rather, that Gay Men (homosexuals) lack any desirable masculine qualities? That's a bit presumptuous on your part, isn't it? Hint of bigotry there too. You might want to lay off the big words for a while: < degrogatory > < mascline > < qualitys > < femmine > < homesexual > No, we all do make mistakes, but you could you at least make an attempt? Yikes.
I saw the film over the weekend and the film was definitely entertaining. The political overtones were there, but I did not feel the film attacked Bush. It was more concerned with individual freedom and how a government can abuse its power. This idea is pretty common and you can see it in all kinds of previous works. My personal American works would have to be Uncle Tom's Cabin and The Scarlet Letter, literary works that had a political message underneath the storylines. As for being an action film, it depends on your age, if your are older you might think the film was just too Hollywood and if you are younger, you probably thought it did not have enough action! To me at least the promos for V were pretty accurate. If you simply wanted to be entertained and not think about the political situation of our time, then the trailer would have been sufficient enough to tell you not to see this film. Sometimes I wonder why people get so offended by some movies. If you are deeply religious then perhaps you should not see The Last Temptation of Christ, that movie is probably not for you. But that does not mean someone else can't enjoy it.
I went to see V but it was sold out. Opted for 'The Proposition' instead. More violent than I had anticipated. Good movie though. The screenplay was written by Nick Cave who did the music too.
They re-did a lot. The original author is not happy. I would state that the exact opposite is true. As the movie completely mischaracterized The Gun Powder Plot, Guy Fawkes role in the plot, and Guy Fawkes ending -- I believe that I can state unequivocally that any knowledge of history would significantly lessen your enjoyment of the movie.
Ahh, but there in lies the point. The movie was made for liberal anti-busher's, that mask will atract their core audience.
