    Hello,

Last week I read that YouTube has started a program with which you can earn money.

Can someone describe it in detail ( I know it is related to video uploading, but no information in specific at all).

    Thank you,

    Yupi

    Intresting...

Here’s how it works: YouTube will be monitoring its site for videos that quickly go viral, and will then reach out to the content uploader with an Email invitation to “Enable Revenue Sharing” on that video. If you choose to enable the feature, then YouTube will place ads against the video and will give you a cut, which gets paid into your Google AdSense account. YouTube’s criteria for joining the program are vague — the site plans to look at the number of views a video gets, its virality, and compliance with the site’s Terms of Service, but it has offered no concrete numbers.

Its called the youtube partner program and its nothing new.

    http://www.youtube.com/partners

Once you have people subscribing to your channel, and your videos are of a certain quality you can apply to join the youtube partner program. Keep in mind that most of the people that apply to the program are denied.

I have been a member of the youtube partner program for about 1 1/2 years. But I had about 175 videos, several thousand subscribers and over 1 million views before I applied. But I have seen people with video views in the 30,000+ range and they are denied.

Umm, didn't google end this program a couple months ago? I'm pretty sure the players still work, but you don't get paid anymore ... they said they couldn't get the revenue model to work effectively.

Google has lost a lot of money maintaining Youtube. It would not be a surprise if they end this program.

Youtube had a video player for partners - but it was confusing and it was discontinued a few months ago.

But the partner program is still going strong.

Hehe, YouTube is in the top 5 most visited websites in the world. This is the best platform for Google to advertise their products such as Chrome browser - hint: look on the bottom of every page. Also, they display AdWords on YouTube which = $$$! Google's goal is to dominate every part of Web search and they will push it as much as they can even though YT does not make much money for them now (some say Google is losing money with YT but I don't believe that story), it will pay off later big time.

"YouTube is in the top 5 most visited websites in the world." That is why Google bought youtube, and youtube is about to go profitable(google just bought a new video technology which is really going to help them save on bandwidth costs, and they are getting more and more ad deals from big media). Youtube is the new TV, it is one of the things that is killing the TV industry.

The youtube ad revenue program probably doesn't pay much. Better to just make videos, and put affiliate links to related products in the 'description' field.
