nop , you get backlinks from authority sites and authority sites are of general niche , not any niche specific.
but it is very effective in boosting your serp positions.

you all have been sent an example of the sites where your links will be placed.
there is no risk of your link being removed as these are not like spamming as done with blog commenting.

 

My take on this:

He has set up links on profile page which has 0 page rank and probably no use. I would stay away from this service.
