I have been trying to set up 2checkout on my website http://www.wocchat.com, this has proved a complete nightmare !

My site is a social networking site, as there is a section where people add their fave videos from you tube, using the enbed code.

I had finally set up my 2checkout, only then to be emailed to be told my account is suspended as i have copywrited content on my website.

I am a little confused by this, as well first of all the content isnt hosted on my site, also youtube dont have copywrited content on their site as far as i know.

2checkout recently just taken social networking sites on, i dont think there is a social networking site on the planet that doesnt use you tube as a source is there ?

Anyone know whos in the right here ? am i in the wrong ?

Your post is impossible to understand, from what I can tell you uploaded copyrighted content to youtube for your social networking site. This does break copyright laws and can get you banned from youtube. It doesn't matter that the content is not hosted on your site. Also, it's copyright, not copywrite. If you can explain your post better we can probably help you more.

I agree that your problem is not clear. I think the first misconception that you're under is that the content on youtube isn't copyrighted. That's just not true. Each YouTube video is subject to copyright either by the person who made the video or the person who made the performance that's being videoed (depending on the video).

By allowing people to infringe copyright, even if they're not hosted on your site, you could be liable for contributory and/or vicarious copyright infringement.

Let me know if you have other questions.

    Hi guys

I dont think i explained myself very well, I am aware youtube videos are subject to copywrite laws.

There is a section on my social networking site, where people can add videos from you tube to this section of my website, thus you tube videos being embedded into this section.

2checkout have said because I am using these videos from youtube on this section of my site, I am breaking copywrite laws.

The reason i let people use you tube videos on this section, is I assumed if it was legally displayed on you tube, it would be fine to embed the videos into my social networking sites video section.

What has confused me is that I know you tube doesnt allow copywrited content on their site, I am using youtubes content embedded into my videos section of my website and yet im being told im breaking copywrite law, surely if its ok to be on youtube its ok to be on my site too ?

Not an easy problem to explain, hope it makes a little more sense ?

Just because something is embedded on youtube and hasn't been taken down yet doesn't mean it isn't breaking copyright laws. There are thousands upon thousands hours of video uploaded each day and youtube cannot possible screen them all. If you embed videos containing copyrighted content without permission that is contributory infringement, it doesn't matter if they are on youtube.
