Yesterday I was contacted on YIM about an answer I gave on Yahoo Answers (several months ago) asking more questions. The person is a member of my forum (for a month now) and has one referral. Combined, those two members have given me 53 posts of unique content on my site....what did it cost me? 5 minutes of time answering a simple question with a nofollow link to my site. I am unsure of how much more traffic that single question has given me, and I'm not sure if I have gotten additional members from it...

But if you plan on adding answers, it IS important to not sound spammy and to actually GIVE an answer.

Does that really matter though? What is a good SERP for if not for traffic?

I use yahoo answers daily for my link building. It brings quite a bit of traffic to my sites. Just make sure you stay on topic and don't go haywire on posting your links or you be banned.

I was wondering about this. Does this mean that you should do some posts which don't contain your link as well, just to preserve the integrity of your account? Perhaps post i areas unrelated to your niche but something you can answer (a hobby maybe)? Do you guys set up loads of accounts or just have one account and put your link every 10 posts or so? How do you actually work it?

Very good way of getting direct traffic - I totally agree with you. I've tried it before.
