Using X.CO vanity to improve domain value.

    I have a question.
Do you think using X.CO vanity names for a long domain name would help its value?
lets say I owned "ANESTHESIOLOGIST" (the extension doesnt matter), would having X.CO/sleep or X.CO/zzz help the value of the domain?

My thought is that its a long and very hard to spell domain. Having the words sleep or zzz associated to it makes it easier to remember and much easier to spell.

    Your thoughts?

No, again, that is not your domain, x.co is a shortener. It would be good for using it to redirect links, as it is new, as people are used to bit.ly

What do you mean by "AGAIN"?
I don't think I stated that its the DOMAIN, its a direct path to you main site.
It stays with the site (as long as X.CO is around). I don't see GD going anywhere anytime soon.
They are also saved to your Godaddy account.

Does bit.ly offer vanity names? I have no idea. I didn't think they did.
Also does your bit.ly names get linked to your account.
I don't know much about bit.ly. I am asking here for more information.

    Cheers and thanks

No, it won't improve the value of the domain, it will only make it easier for you to tell people a simple address to find your site.

But keep in mind that if someone is looking for an "ANESTHESIOLOGIST", they are mostlikely going to know how to spell it.

x.co or bit.ly are ok for giving people short cuts to long domains, but I would never use them for business. For one thing the company can track and even hijack your traffic, and if the shortcut stops working, you are screwed. Better to buy a domain you can keep and control as long as you want. Something like isleepu.com or drugsleep.com would be better in my mind.
