I never liked the free article scripts floating around and I'm wondering how practicle it is to use wordpress for my recipe site?
quite easy, have you worked with wordpress before? If not just download it and install it and look for yourself how easy it is. You could ccreate pages for the recipes and use the blogposts for the news!
Sounds like a good idea, but the only thing to watch out for is that it could get slow if you add more than a few thousand or so articles or recipes.
can anybody point me to a site which provides comparisons of these cmses? I am particularly interested in the scalability issue.
go to wordpress's official website and download then install you can also refer to their help site which will give you all infoz. Rgrds Black_Hand

Wordpress will cater (no pun intended) for your needs, though as websiteideas stated it will become slow if you intend to dump several thousand recipes into it. If you plan to keep it to a reasonable size then it's a great starting point and offers a really easy way to manage them. If your site grows then in time you can look at moving onto something more powerful and able to handle vast numbers of recipes, but till then Wordpress will serve you well.
