I wouldn't recommend it. Word fills the page with all sorts of junk that you would need to manually remove. Grab yourself a free template from somewhere or other then adapt it to your needs. I personally like to use Notepad++ for this (it's probably my most used application).
I guess i had seen an option in save type as *.htm or *.html, however I've never tried that. Give a try may be and let us know. Otherwise notepad++ is an efficient editor.
