"no follow" is a tag you can add to a link, and google uses that tag to not count that link as a relevant "vote", contributing towards pagerank. Basically if the link is "no follow", it doesnt help you any as a backlink in Google. If you have the Firefox browser you can clearly see which links are "no follow".
Anyway if your links of “no follow†are there for 60 days and so without getting deleted then they are definitely there for a purpose.
I just tried to contribute to Wiki 3 hours ago to a niche I thought would never get discovered. After reading this thread I thought I would check and sure enough, my link has already been replaced. What a bunch of crap...oh well, it was a fun experiment while it lasted. Travis
If you have a gr8 site, you can keep the link for a long time. You will decent amount of traffic from wiki.
Very true but you'd have to be the best out of the best in that specific domain and... have very unique content (and people must love the site too). it's way to hard to keep links in wikipedia...
You can actually post at Wikipedia...but for your post to stay posted there, it must meet the criteria that Wikipedia has set. Some of this criteria are uniqueness, well written and objective. Try and post. It does not harm at all to try.
i didnt know about posting your link on wikipedia... i just added mine and i wonder how long it will last...
"NO FOLLOW" tag aside, it's a good source for HIGHLY TARGETED traffic if your link enhances their content and doesn't get killed. It also helps if you put the PPC ads in secondary pages--not landing pages.
I get a lot of traffic from wikipedia.org but I'm not sure how good it is for PR as I think their external links use 'nofollow'
