I signed up for a twitter account a couple years ago but didn't realize until recently the power of the platform for marketing purposes. It seemed to me to just be a bunch of people having a screaming match and spamming their opportunity everywhere. I'm still learning how to use it properly. Twitter is an excellent tool for anyone with a small list to market to but one must be careful not to abuse it by offering no value with their tweeting. Another thing I would suggest not doing is buying twitter followers. You'll probably end up with a lot of fake twitter accounts following you and endless spamming. I selectively follow people within the niches I want to follow me and only follow accounts that are recent and likely to follow me back. If their follower to following ratio is too lopsided I generally don't waste my time with them. In my opinion the best way to market online is by using attraction marketing tactics. If you're constantly throwing your opt-in link at everybody you'll come across as desperate and they will more than likely unfollow you.
I use twitter to get massive traffic , its a great way to by pass SEO BS and get to the goods , but it does take a while to build it up
I’ve been using Twitter to promote my site for a few months now. As well as tweeting your News (Blog) tweet your latest topics (if you have a forum). 1,200 followers and steadily growing so far, if you have a website you need Twitter.
What kinds of messages do people tweet? I always want to be smart and witty but I always find I am at a loss for words. Any ideas or tips for how to get started?
